Annie has been an athlete all her life with a focus in softball until college. After playing D1 Softball at Quinnipiac University, she discovered rock climbing as both an outdoor hobby and a competitive sport. Annie became a youth climbing instructor/coach after falling in love with the sport. After suffering an ankle injury she was looking for a way to get back into a fitness routine under the supervision of a coach – and that is how she found CrossFit. Not only was she able to rehab her ankle, but she realized the endless benefits that CrossFit had to offer – the community, the progress in strength, and the change in mindset towards a fitness lifestyle. Needless to say she was hooked. Annie started training at Kong CrossFit in Norwalk in 2014 as a competitive athlete. After spending time in the gym with its fantastic “family feel†community, the itch to coach returned. She started to shadow and got her CF-L1 in October 2015. After receiving her certificate, she became a regular coach at the gym helping members reach their highest potential. After focusing only on CrossFit for 2 years, she wanted to branch out slightly and focus strictly on Olympic Weightlifting. In 2016 she got her USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Certification to be able to better coach the athletes at Kong in their lifting. Once the opportunity to open up the new space in Shelton, Annie was full speed ahead and wanted to be an integral part of the process. She left her full time corporate job to give her full self to the gym. She is now the General Manager and Head Coach at Kong CrossFit Shelton.
A Message From Annie
My time at doing Crossfit has been priceless. I have not only built amazing relationships with the people in my community, but I truly have found myself at the gym. Through crossfit and the community at kong, I have found the confidence in my body as well as my mind to overcome any obstacle – it’s all about trust. I consider myself to be immensely lucky to wake up every day and have the opportunity to help people achieve their goals. My goal is to continually create a welcoming environment where all people of all levels of fitness can come in and achieve their goals
